happy place - pt 1

i've been spending a lot of time up in the highlands with some family recently. this is because a brief i wrote for myself conveniently dictates that i do so :) ive been looking at slates quite in depth (its for my project, although its kind of hard not to look at slates while your around here...) and learning (WHILE UNLEARNING) stories about the place that my childish spirit has made it's home. hopefully you can feel some of the magic that i do when i explore around here.

details of a bridge made of slate. i was once told that if you stood under the bridge, you would get captured and trapped there, invisible forever, by a witch by a witch that called to children. i found out this week that that's nonsense and not even a legend that anyone around here knows about. my uncle puffer doesnt even remember telling me this! i must consult with the sisters to find out what they remember.

this is the slate quarry at ballachulish. one of the coolest places on earth and a place i only recently went to for the first time. they used to carry the slate down from the quarry over the bridge and down to the shoreline to be shipped off.

an alien space ship disguised as a giant slate lump. if aliens did land, ballachulish would be a grand place to hide so it doesn't seem that unlikely!!

i donated my finger slates to the bridge. maybe it is the witches hand.

it was payback for him laughing at me when i fell over on the island....
