exploring the unknown and drinking soup.
James and I went on an adventure to Wemyss Bay yesterday! try not to vom at how AWESOME we are...!!!:
The train journey was RAD! James wasn't to know about my love for "STUFF!!!" out train windows but he soon caught on. I'm probably going to get a giant arrow sign that i can point at stuff that just says "OH! Lookit THAAAT!" with flashing lights. We passed loads of cool "STUFF!!!" on the way and because it was such a lovely day we saw snow on hills far far away. Wemyss Bay train station is nice. James described it as "the kind of station where novels begin." That hits it pretty much bang on. It had a wee cafe and a bookshop and the big long pier was attached so people could get the ferryboat to Rothesay. We went for an explore of the area and quickly realised there wasnt a whole lot to do but look at big fancy houses that were so lovely i could cry... and i needed to pee so we came back to the station (avoiding some perilous three drains) to get a coffee and use the facilities. The toilets were UV which is always fun and makes even kind of lame damp train station toilets look cool. Plus it made my head glow like a radioactive mushroom!! The beach was loverly and was prime pickings for nice bits of glass. i found one single blue one which is the size of a salt crystal and glowed like the train station toilet. needless to say i came home with a pocket of glass and a stone that i am contemplating becoming my newest pet. We sat and had soup and i knitted for a while and we climbed about on rocks and got a little boy into trouble from his grampa for trying to follow us onto the rocks. We were getting chilly and tired and we didnt know when the last train back to glasgow would be and didnt want to get stranded in Wemyss Bay because i'm sure none of the rich old folk in the mansions would be putting us up for the night. Headed back to the train station and had a nice mug of tea and a bit of carrot cake (Meg, you have a bit of competition... this was the best carrot cake i've ever eaten) and watched a wee boy eat his wine gums quietly while his Aunty Pat went to find the purse that she had lost on the bus (we were not minding the wee boy... the cafe lady was!!!) and then the train arrived and we headed home to laugh at skaters falling over in George Square... but that's another story for another time.
